Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere - i've done a few searches and cant find a good answer.
My snowboard picked up some nice battlescars last week in the Pyrenees. none of them are really nasty. i don't think any of them are more than 1mm deep but they're pretty long - most of the length of the board.
Now to the question...there's lots of advice on repairs on the net, but i'm just not sure the scratches justify p-tex or welding. What's a good rule of thumb on how to tell when a scratch needs proper intervention. To be honest i'm thinking about just smoothing the edges off a bit and waxing it well.
SUB-question, my board is sintered and has what i think is described as a structured base (basically its got little micro grooves running lengthways). If i do need to get my weld on, can i re-structure the base to match the current design.

You'll know a core shot when you see one, bits of wood will be hanging out and it doesn't look the best, if its taken the Ptex off and its basically like a channel and you can see the wood core but its intact then you will need to pack it with PTEX otherwise if its anything else just wax the board again and away you go
you will learn the more you see it, I spent 4 weeks in Serre Chev when the snow was awful and I ended up having to repair my board nearly everynight, after 2 weeks I gave in
