Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Europe and the UK have standardised on 230 volts for electrical equipment, so you only need an adapter that will physically allow the plug to be inserted into the French socket. America's another matter, as they use 110 volts. Any snowHeads off across the Atlantic will need to check the small print on their appliances before using them stateside. In practice, most battery chargers (eg for mobile phones) are designed to work anywhere, and things like hair driers are sufficiently insensitive to voltage to sort of work after a fashion.

Agree with Jonny Jones, the time to be careful is if you have US equipment designed for 110V and you plug it in over here. Can go bang ! As a colleague of mine found out with a $50K bit of telecom test kit Laughing

yeah, be careful if you bought an ipod off ebay that is american and so has the american charger - I should say on the plug what is capable of being used for. I bought an archos mp3 player in the states, bought it back here, assumed it had a transformer built into the power cable (as most electrical items bought in the UK do), plugged it in...............burning smell Embarassed Crying or Very sad

Thankfully i discovered (but only 6 months laters Embarassed ) that i could remove the batteries and charge them in a conventional charger. It is a pain but i can still use it. I don't think you can charge those ipod batteries externally so be careful.
