Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Will be interesting to see how this effects 2009/2010 Ski Holiday.

I certainly don't shun 'eurozone'. It's the only place I can travel outside the UK...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My bookings for this season, the summer and next winter (some peak weeks already booked) would suggest otherwise. From the conversations I have had though, many chalet and hotel lovers are choosing self-catering instead.

In the long run this will force some hoteliers to readjust..... that can't afford to lose too many

supply and demand and all that...

I have heard that ion St Anton some Hoteliers will go out of business business before thew end of this season. Austrian banks are in so much trouble having lent to Eastern Europe that loans for Domestic Hotels in the last few years are not being honoured and likely to default. Sad

However, the travel industry warns would-be holidaymakers that making a last-minute booking will not mean a big discount this summer.

They would say that
I'll do what I always do and wait for my Mallorca summer hols till 2 days before I want to go - normally get a week inc, flight for around £150 -

At Wengen the Inghams rep was saying that 50% of their beds were filled by late bookers at discounts - not sustainable in the long term. I believe the TOs are making far lees confirmed bookings to the hotels for next year. So my guess is that holiday costs will be up - and that there will be a surge in self-catering. Looks to me that Helen Beaumont should be in a sound financial position. The slopes at Wengen were rather quiet with almost no queues - so I wonder if the resort overall may not be under some strain next season.
