Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Work as instructor with training / certificate included

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi - I have been reading various posts on this forum that mention the possibillity of getting work as an instructor with no expreience, with an instructors cert included in the training.

I am headed to Canada mid 09.

Any advice on which resorts do this, or web links to more info, or when I should arrive to apply?

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andy,

It seemed to be a bit of a new idea in Canada this season (at some resorts, anyway) - quite common in America for hills to hire untrained instructors then put the instructor through the cert during the season.

I'm only summising for the rest of this post...

...with a lot of the resorts having to lay off staff due to the poor season, I doubt there will be much enthusiasm to hire untrained instructors next season (remember they were riding a wave after a couple of cracking seasons in most of Canada).

As I say, just supposition given this season, the economic climate and the resorts' possible willingness to 'overhire' next season.

Good luck though! snowHead
