Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

NZ/Aus ski schools with good in-house instructor training?

Yo all -

So, I was pretty set on Cardrona for this summer but unfortunatly they've had a rush of returning staff along with lower required instructors due to the recession, so I didn't get a job there. I know application for a lot of places has closed now, so this is a bit of a long shot, but I'd really like to keep teaching this summer and also keep working on my skiing and towards my CSIA3. I can't afford to live on instructor wages if I'm just teaching and not improving my skiing besides under my own steam.

Anyone got any good places or people I could talk to?

Cheers,
Dave

DaveC, Falls Creek should be OK - Francis who runs the ski school now is AWESOME!!! He used to be a trainer for APSI III for most of the ski schools IIRC....

I knew a trainer at Buller but he left and I'd question why....

Perhaps Perisher or Thredbo? I know they nearly always are looking for staff...

My friends always enjoyed Hotham ski school...

I'd try all and any...

If you want to know about Perisher ask Hugo and Katy at www.snowprofi.net Hugo was a trainer at Thredbo.... So ask nicely and he may have info for you.... Also if you go to Perisher look for Mike (Canadian) who works with race dept with moguls kids.... He is a nice guy and seems pretty good at his job...

NZ Ski (Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Mt Hutt) have a good reputation for its schools. It also runs instructor courses for NZSIA Certificate in Snowsports (CSI) Instruction Training Level and the NZSIA Stage One Lots of international input, national examiners on staff etc. The director Michel Marchand is the man to talk to.

DaveC, you can also try up North http://www.mtruapehu.com/winter/Become-an-instructor/

I know it's not Wanaka or Queenstown but I've had some great times there. Worth a crack.
