Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fitting a sliding plate under bindings?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,
I understand that it may be possible to install a sliding plate under a binding so that the toe section, and thus the position of the boot, can be adjusted forwards or backwards on a ski to suit different types of skiing? This is for my Black Crows Navis 186s with Marker Griffon bindings. Are the plates manufacturer or binding specific, can they be installed under a Griffon? As you can probably tell I know nothing about these plates and would be v. grateful for any info or advice.
Thanks, David

I think that the sliding plates are fitted to the ski as opposed to normal bindings for hire skis and that type of use..... you may be able to swap non adjustable to adjustable but I think my local shop was saying earlier in the season that they had some none adjustables delivered by mistake so they were going straight back...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The 'sliding' binding /plate combinations that I know of come in pairs (e.g. Tyrolia railflex, Atomic Neox, Marker Motion, VIST etc) and AFAIK there are no such plates (rails) for the Griffon.

I looked at an extension of the track for Jesters/Griffons the other day, not quite sure how it works but there is one out there.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to email Marker and see what they suggest, if I they give any interesting info then I'll post back here.
