Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hostel St Anton

Any hostels in St Anton?
Looking to do a ski course but only need some cheap dorm room type accommodation...
Alternatively, if they're not near the slopes, anywhere for about EUR30-50 per night?
I guess I could drive into resort if I have my car but would ideally like to be close by plus hostels are good for socialising Smile

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks.
Hmm, they seem to be at 7km out from the centre.
Any cheap accommodation that people have used near the lifts? or chalet...

GordonFreeman, You'll struggle to find but it you look hard enough there are rooms in St Anton itself for the €50 a night range. This website is quite good http://www.st-antonamarlberg.co.uk/ or try the official website http://www.stantonamarlberg.com/winter/ViewPage.asp?Site=STANTON2-WINTER&PageID=206&lang=201 Aim to stay in Nasserein (cheaper than St Anton centre but has gondola), Dorf (village centre) or Oberdorf (between village centre and Mooserwirt land Smile )

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There are fairly regular shuttle buses from the outlying villages (Nasserein, St Jacob etc). Not sure what time they run till, though.

Not entirely familiar with all the ski areas in St Anton. When you say Nasserein has a gondola - does that connect to the rest of St Anton then?

GordonFreeman, if you are considering St Anton as a place to do a ski course. I would suggest you have a good read of the tourist office website first.

GordonFreeman, Nasserein is just outside the centre and is a very good place to base yourself. The gondola takes you right up to where all the action is so you are well connected into the circut. If you are wanting to catch the apres ski at the Mooserwirt etc it would involve a 5-10 min walk down the main st. I've stayed in Nasserein a couple of time and it's never been a problem, although we were the village centre side of the gondola - Nasserein is a reasonably big part of St Anton and if you're staying towards the St Jakob part of it, it could mean a 20 minute walk - or free bus or taxi BUT only if you're hitting the town for some apres - which I would highly recommend - would be the equivelant of a blind guy going to s strip bar otherwise wink . If you can, try to stay on Dorfstrasse as this is the main street and convenient for everything. This is a good interactive map of the village which helps you choose a room based on rating and location etc http://geo.planalp.at/stanton/map/stanton_map.php

Ok, will have a look through that.
Also, are there any recommended chalets in that area or might they be too pricey?
