Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi guys, am just about to book ski rental online for my trip next week and unsure which to go for. I have 2 previous weeks experience a while back so would say i am early intermediate just progressing onto parallel turns. I am 26 male 85kg 5'11". can anyone recommend skis for me inc type/length etc?
thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I'd say that seeing as you only have 2 weeks experience then something around 160cm if you are a little bit hesitant, and 170's if you like to blast it in a confident manner. I doubt that any ski on offer for general piste use these days would be a bad choice. If it's icy then make sure that the edges are fairly sharp.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you get a poor choice most places will let you change them. In fact... it might be an idea to start shorter and ask if it's ok to try a different ski halfway though the week as you find your ski legs.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

mmdpkaaa, Some may disagree but I'd go for intermediate. More because I've seen some badly maintained skis in the cheaper option. Having decent edges and a good wax is more important than having last years model though.

Had a look at the ski shop i will be renting from and the choices are below. after reading on here it seems its better to choose your own ski insted of letting the shop decide and give u something crap. Which ones would be good for me to use? I have listed them below - the first skis are the cheapest (69 euros) the rest are all 79 euros.
Dynastar exclusive sensation – standard skis 69 euros including boots
Head xenon xi7.0 79 euros
K2 apache crossfire
K2 apache recon
K2 factory public enemy
Rossignol bandit B78
Thanks
edit: also budget skis are available for 60 Euros - Head iXRC500 or Head Lite Thang.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

mmdpkaaa,
In fact they are your ticket to progress because they will give you high intermediate performance for high intermediate input.
The last thing you want is low level performance for intermediate input.
