Poster: A snowHead

A friend is going there in 10 days - and needs some work done - sounds like never got liners and orthotics sorted properly in some 3 year old boots.
I've never been there - who would be good at doing remedial boot work ? Who would be good at selling boots to a middle-aged non-racer punter?
Thanks in advance...
and yes - I know it is only 468km by road from St Anton to the Zoo...

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Alber Sport on Main Street - both times I was there they did a good job slightly modifying my boots (with very positive effects). Charged me 10 Euros once and nothing the second time around! (I did leave a tip).
Don't know the name of the guy, though (50-year old chap).
A friend bought his boots at Jennewein (on the roundabout close to the Galzigbahn) and he's happy, but he's one of the few people God made who have ski-boot-shaped feet.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

stoatsbrother, Head to Strolz in Lech www.strolz.at Got a pair made last year - fantastic - fit like a glove. If the shells are OK he could just get the liners made. Not cheap mind you, but should apparently last for absolute years - my boots, liners and foot beds cameto around €500. Will probably need to make an appointment - best to do in advance if he is keen. Alber also have a connection with Strolz.

Alber Sport get a vote from me; they were recommended by our pension, although the pension has some sort of tie up with another shop, which suggested to me that the recommendation might be sincere. They do the Strolz thing (as well as selling other boots). I don't know whether they are as good as Strolz HQ, but they did a good job for the OL. She was able to walk in on day 1 (arrival day), be measured up on day 2 (after skiing, necessary so that the feet have spent a day on the slopes), have the liners foamed on day 2 and ski in them on day 3, and that was during half term week. They seem to have people there who know more than is good for anyone about fitting ski boots (you know the effect this sort of information has on our own bootfitters).

Benny and Phillip (who used to work at Strolz) at Jennewein next to the roundabout helped me all week long back in January to sort out boots I had bought somewhere else. They know their stuff and were very very helpful. Got some new footbeds too. THey charged me a very fair price having seen them EVERY evening.
Had Strolz boots 10 years ago. They were great the first year but then my feet must have changed and the boots (with the rock hard foam) became very painful until I had to bin them (same happened to a friend). Their buckles broke all the time too.
