Room Key.
I sometimes carry another pair of goggles/glasses.
I should carry more. What would be the most suitable lightweight backpack?

which also serves as my carry on bag on the way our and back. The laptop pocket is useful for the journey as is the water bottle pocket in resort. from memory it was about £35.

Like a few of you on here, I also seem to end up carrying stuff for the kids and the wife. Sunglasses for them, hats for them, food and drink for them etc. Very little in the pack is actually mine

i just use my pockets, few quid, suncream, phone and piste map - usually stick my goggles in the hood of my coat and im off - hate excess luggage.

Why's everybody carrying sun cream? I understood applying more sun cream does nothing unless you've washed the first lot off. Seems pointless carrying a bottle about with you, get a decent factor and apply it once in the morning. Job done.

davef, my husband insists on bringing a backpack, says happy to carry it, so would be rude of me not to give him my goggles, and a few other bits 
If on my own, I'm happy to bring bare essentials, ie piste map, phone, cc, pass, lip balm. I use a once a day suncream, if hot & sweaty weather then will bring along a mini tube for top-up.

I've never yet found the need to use sun cream on a ski trip.
And I am fair skinned, and will normally use factor 20+ on a summer trip, 15 when outside in the UK in the summer.

I once burned so badly on my nose that I nearly had to stop skiing. The only way I could carry on was make a little 'nose hat' which I tied to the bridge piece of my sunnies. It looked bizarre, but it meant I could keep skiing for the rest of the week.
The lesson I gained was that I can burn very quickly without being aware of it.
I use suncream a lot when I am skiing. I don't care that I don't tan much if at all. I am going to ski. If I wanted to tan I could go to a sun bed for a lot less cash.

Even late in the season? I'm also fair skinned and don't often bother with sun cream early in the season, but from March onwards I normally slap a high factor cream on each day. Late season skiing can be brutal if you get a week of sun. First time I went skiing in April I didn't realise how strong the sun was and got burned so badly it looked like I'd been in a nuclear accident!

I use sun cream from Feb onwards - and I have a fairly dark complexion for an Anglo-Celt.
I hope that doesn't spark an accusation of racism

Good point.
The only time I have been skiing outside of January was my Canada trip.
But this year I'm going (to Austria) from the 21st of March. Possibly I will want it.

Highly likely in my experience, you can burn a lot quicker in the alps at the end of March than in a lot of summer hot spots if the weatther is sunny.

Camelbak, shovel and probe, spare top, chocolate and extra drink. Insurance certificate - highly recommend anyone carrying this if you don't already. When I was choppered off the hill in Avoriaz with my knees in pieces last week I was able to show the patroller my certificate, saved a whole load of hassle and credit card getting battered!

It means you have a way to get back into your room when you come off th slopes.
It also means that if you clobber yourself in a way that laves you incommunicado, they can tell which accommodation you are staying at.
My room key will normally be in a (zipped) pocket while I am skiing.

Blimey, never thought of that. I have plenty of ID on me - if things were that bad, and I were sking on my own, I expect resort police could identify my accommodation whilst I am peacefully crashed out in hospital.
