Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

THIS PROBLEM IS NOW SOLVED, BUT I CANNOT DELETE THE THREAD. Thanks for looking.

Have you got a box of screws from old ski bindings? Could you have a look please to see if you have a flat head binding screw (i.e. not countersunk) that is at least 35mm from the bottom of the head to it's end (that is 36mm not including the length of the head) or even longer if possible, but I have been told 35/36mm is the longest you can get. Trouble is, my bindings have come loose at the back end and one screw has been lost. I have tried some ski shops whilst I was away, but no luck. Ski binding screws are of a special design that you don't find elsewhere, and normally only come supplied with bindings, so I thought I would try you guys.

Can you help please? By the way, even 1mm less than 36mm is no good I'm afraid, as every mm counts, there isn't much of the screw biting into the ski which is the root of my problem, I need it to go just that little bit deeper

Cheers

It's very kind of you to reply so quickly, but I have solved my problem by deciding that another pair of skis should be scrapped and have taken screws from them. I also got some brass inserts which are made for this kind of repair. If I get any more problems I will come back.

Thank you

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

skiday, glad you've got a solution as the max I've got is 34mm. I was gonna suggest a helicoil insert as it's likely the existing hole will be oversize.
