Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Boot help please...

I need some help / advice for Mrs. CarlT. We have just got back from our annual trip and she has said that she does not want to ski anymore! Sad

She is a good skier, but has trouble / issues with ski boots. She bought a new pair 2 years ago and had them professionally fitted. Since, then she has had a baby and feels that the boots no longer fit correctly - is this likely?

She is very flat footed and is always trying to keep her heel down at the back of the boots (they lift when skiing and this is impacting on her skiing).

Can anyone recommend a place for her to go to get the boots refitted? I dont want to go to the big chains and our 2 local ski shops idea of 'fitting' is standing in them for 5 minutes to check they fit!!! Shocked

We are based in Bournemouth, but willing to travel to get them sorted!

Thanks in advance...

There is a user on the forums called CEM who seems to be a well respected - constantly recommended for boot problem solving. Website is www.solutions4feet.com. Well worth contacting by PM (I had very quick responses for a problem I was having). Not sure it is that close.

You could also look at this thread: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=29487

Hope this helps.

CarlT, Another vote for CEM, great guy and very helpful. Not a million miles away in Bicester (where there's a great outlet shopping place - should help persuade MrsCarlT to make the trip) wink I'm sure I remember CEM posting once before about it being common for women's feet to change after pregnancy, so it's quite likely the reason (sorry can't remember where the post was). Send him a PM and ask him.

I agree. If he cant fix her then she should give up. I have friends who had foot problems after pregnancy they wernt skiers but even ther normal shoes stoped fitting.
CEM is a Certified Pedorthist as well as a boot fitter.

She certainly shouldn't be able to lift her heels inside the boot.

CarlT, if you can't make it to Bicester, Profeet in London sorted my boots for me. My OL had boot problems which Profeet hadn't solved (although they had improved matters and might have sorted them in time); she bought a pair of Strolz boots (semi bespoke) in St Anton last year and so far they have been absolutely trouble free. Strolz HQ is in Lech, but they are available elsewhere. They're a bit pricey but not ridiculous.
