Poster: A snowHead

I am going to chamonix at the weekend, and am thinking of buying the MBU pass this only allows me to ski parts of les houches, the pass is expensive enough, how much extra do i have to pay to allow me to ski a full day in les houches, it looks a nice area for the children - any info would be great!

LH a smashing little ski area with great views of the valley and some nice tree skiing. Dont just wait to go there if the weather is
bad, go when its nice.
Also the Kanahar (sp) is always worth going down.
Enjoy

No idea about the lift pass bit but would second the view that it's well worth a visit when the sun is shining not just as a bolthole in bad weather. Really nice for kids (and adults!)

You can also buy the Ski Pass Mont Blanc which covers the whole Chamonix valley including Les Houches plus quite a few resorts like Megeve (Combloux, Cordon/Sallanches, Les Contamines-Montjoie, Megève, Passy Plaine-Joux, Praz sur Arly, Saint-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas de Véroce) but it is pretty dear at 255 Euros for 6 days.

bellfi, you get one "free" day with the MBU (Not Le Pass). You can also use LHs when the CdMB decide the weather is bad enough. I haven't found anywhere online where this is signalled.
However,
6 consecutive days MBU = € 235
5 non-consec days Le Pass + 1 day LHs = €180 + €30.80 = € 210.80
I'd consider the latter. Also consider that you can get 4 hour passes and half day passes - so if the kids are not of an age where you're skiing from dawn to dusk...
If you're eating on the hill in LHs recommend "Terrain" and the "Taniere" for quality and value.

Couldn't find mention of this elsewhere - but Les Houches is now BACK on the MBU pass as of 14th March.

You may just want to check again before using the Bellevue lift as they appear not to be in agreement (according to a press release issued by SEPP yesterday).

Factor in whether you might want to use the GM cable car a couple of times during your stay as that bridges the difference in the two example prices. The 5 day non conseq is good though as it is transferable between holders so very flexible for parents who may be sharing child care and skiing alternate days.

Anything definative on this? As I've been avoiding LH but wouldn't mind a ski there over the weekend.

You know it makes sense.

If you have not been there before, there are broadly two big lifts - one called Prarion for which you won't have a problem as it is run by a subsidiary of the company that issues the MBU, the other is called Bellevue which will probably be fine for clients despite all the rambling. You can just use Prarion if unsure particularly since there is enough skiing from there.
