Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

all three, they cover different things. Or, just the first then the other two if you like it.

The don't cover different things - just different levels of carving, steeps, moguls and freeride. 2 and 3 have more about preparation before you go, a feature on skiercross, and 3 has extras including info. about the WS Academy and the Frienart Hotel in Saas Fee.
OK on the blacks? What does that really mean? You can get down them without panicking, or you ski them well?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Get Snow's In The House III while you're at it, it's excellent. (and essential for anyone who skis Verbier).
Interested in whether people think the Warren Smith DVDs and books are value for money. Was thinking about getting No1 last week in Slush & Rubble while looking at DVDs for some armchair skiing to assuage the anticipation before the next trip! The little book looks good, I guess that the DVD will be of more benefit if you have the book to refer to afterwards?

Hi hyweljenkins,
Been skiing once a year for the past 15 years. Going to Val d'Isere again this year, can ski "the face" well. It's just that the technique goes to pot on moguls and deep snow.

fsa, still difficult to say which to go for so I'll average it - go for Lesson 2! If you've already got the understanding of what you're meant to be doing, but need it to be reinforced a bit, L2 or L3. Lesson 1 is essentially telling you how to do it as a beginner to that particular style of skiing.
johnnyrotten, I like the WS DVDs. Warren's a bit wooden as a presenter, but when you watch him with his group he comes across as an excellent instructor - laid back, humorous, and, importantly, understanding. You're probably right on the book/DVD partnership. I forget what I've watched (apart from the girl showing some pilates - grrrr) within a few hours. If you're just after armchair skiing perhaps Blizzard of Aah's is required?

I've done two of Warren's courses (Verbier & Saas Fee) & can highly recommend them. The DVD's & books although individually v.good are designed to be viewed/read as a companion set - sort of a 'synergy' thing were the total is greater than the sum of the two parts etc.
Therefore best to get both.
I'm not sure that the 3rd DVD is out yet as one of the guys on the Verbier course in Dec brought back the master tape to the UK for Warren. There's actually a chance I might be on it (filmed in Saas Fee last July) unless I've ended up on the cutting room floor. If I'm on hopefully it will be a 'how to' clip rather than a 'how not to' clip!

Lesson 3 is out, though it was very late. I got mine last week, direct from the WSA.

maggi,
I've had that conversation with Warren. No chance! When you enrol on one of Warren's courses you effectively sign away your rights to your 'image' etc.
He does owe me a beer or two though for taking out his repaired digy video camera to Verbier for him so I'm looking forward to collect on that!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

spyderjon, That's seems very mean. Years ago (many years!) I was on a training video and I got a free copy. And, as it was done in normal working hours, you could say I got paid too

It's out and in stock at j2ski.com (with free P&P for a while)
I've seen them all and would recommend starting with Lesson 1 (plus the handbook to take up the mountain) and going from there - there is a lot of stuff to cover if you really want to learn from the DVDs. I think Warren does a good job of isolating the inidividual elements of each discipline so that they're easy to understand and work on but there is just too much to take in (over all three DVDs) at one go.
