Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Internet ski forum comes to the aid of paralysed former British soldier whose skis were stolen

This is quite a dramatic and interesting story, involving one-time British soldier and climber Andy Campbell whose specialised skis (for use on an adaptive sit-ski) were stolen. Members of the TGR ski forum were heavily involved. Worth a read:

This report from The Steamboat Pilot and Messenger.

A great example of news presentation on a website, incidentally. Name of reporter doesn't seem to be there, strangely.

I wonder what the market is like for nicked adaptive skis.

Wow. Well done the maggots - and what a gutsy bloke Campbell is. Great shame about the femur break.

The skis are, I understand, standard skis with pinned (ie spring removed and locked) high DIN metal bindings.

It's been great to follow the whole story thus far. I suspect there's way more to come. Its worth having a look at the course as well Shocked you can get the x-games on some interweb thingy.

I hope someone takes a 'photo when the guy who nicks them falls.

they were standard (but rare - that's how they got tracked down) skis which hadn't been mounted with bindings

the whole Andy Campbell at the X-games story was very inspiring (well worth tracking down his TR on TGR) and it's surprising the ski media haven't picked up on it here. he should be featuring in next year's Warren Miller offering
