Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Secondhand Burton Clash board ('04 model)

A mate of mine is trying to convince me to buy his secondhand Burton Clash 162cm. It's an '04 model, he used it for a week and found it was too big for him (he's 5'10" and about 11 stone wet through).

I trashed my trusty Morrow 168 board last year in that dodgy rockhole, Wengen, so I'm in the market for a new board... was going to rent this year, but you never know!

Thing is, I'm a good intermediate, like carving, love floating around in powder when I can find it, but don't have too much interest in jumps and tricks, so I don't think this is the right board for me anyway. Plus I'm 6'5" tall and 16 stone so I think that I'll stress this board out too much!). I believe the clash is basically a beginner/early intermediate board? Dunno enough about them really.

I did rent a 162 this January in Austria which was twitchier than my 168 but quite good fun all the same... does the extra 6cm make all that difference? (fnarr, fnarr) or is it all down to stiffness (fnarr) and torsion (fn.. oh...)?

Where'd Dogtag get that pic of you Stab? You promised me you'd taken that pic especially for me and now I see you're whoring yourself out to all and sundry. Tsk.

carled, the Clash is a beginner/intermediate board so will most probably be failry soft. I ride a 158 for normal riding and have a 166 for powder. The difference is massivebetween the two, especially on soft snow, but I think a lot of that is down to the flex levels of the boards. I'm 6' 4" and 13.5st but the 158 is perfect for general riding.
