Come on, someone living in Brecon or thereabouts must have looked out of their window this week. What did you see?
I was hoping to go there on Sunday if the snow is worth it, so someone please say what it's like there.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try phoning Storey Arms Outdoor Centre, GIY (google it yourself) though looking across to the beacons this morning it looked all intact, more tonight, though don't know if it will stay around till Sunday...

We had 6-8" lying on the lane yesterday lunchtime.
Another 0.5" or so fell overnight, but the forecasts are suggesting up to another foot by tomorrow evening.
To give you an idea of location, we are about a mile the other side of Ponsticill from Pen-y-Fan, on the road which brings you in to approach Pen-y-Fan using the roman road (i.e. the opposite side to Storey Arms).
This was the view from my study window yesterday lunchtime:

Thanks Alex, that's very useful. Would you mind posting another report on Saturday? With this kind of efficient weather report service though all the snow will get shaved off by borders as soon as it hits the ground!

thas roughly for the altitude of storey arms. went walking lower level (+250m) last monday before the snow proper and about 10cm by end of the day.
supposed to be storm tonight and more snow showers thorugh the w/e with temps not really geting above freezing on the hills. i'm planning on the 4 peaks walk next monday (as long as the wind/weather not to dangerous levels) but if enough snow may take skis on the mountain opposite site from storey arms as no rocks and with a couple of feet of snow could be great fun! anyone else trekking out monday?

We didn't get the dump forecast for Wednesday night, but did get several inches last nght (that wasn't forecast).
I reckon there is about 4 inches more depth out the front now than in the photo above.

A full report would be very useful on Saturday evening if you get the chance. Thanks

Well we haven't had any more snow here, and it was quite sunny all day.
I finally found the time to get into the field next to the house this afternoon though, and even after having the sun on it most of the day, the snow was still pretty good, and deep enough that my skis never broke through to the grass below, although I was skiing like a muppet.
But if there have been a significant number of people up to Pen Y fan, I doubt there will be much decent stuff left.

Thanks again Alex, that was enough to convince me. I think I will try and go up Fan Fawr from the nature reservr tomorrow. Do you know whether the layby there is clear enough to park in?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I don't know, sorry.
Although the car has been out of the lane, and so usable, since Tuesday afternoon, I actually went in to the office (Cheltenham) on Wed & Thu, and worked from home yesterday. Then my wife wanted a trip to Swansea this morning (First time she had been more than 50 yards from the house for a week).
So all in all, I haven't had a reasonable chance to get up there. I didn't even get to play outside the house until this afternoon.
