Coding could be better but may not be a problem; the site looks OK in FF, and so will probably be OK in other browsers, though I haven't checked. Some gobbledy gook:

They say it’s not what you know, but who you know. At RSM we like to think we have all angles covered. We are the world class athletes out performing in the field, we are the media experts providing analysis and commentary, and we are the creative minds driving the market forward. |
OTOH, if you know your market, and that's what it likes, then fair enough.
'Read more' (home page) repeatedly can be bad for those reading screen readers. Almost certainly not in your target market, but it's nice not to be exclusive when coding a page.
Very nice looking site.

Exactly. My boss talks like this all the time, sound like something auto-generated by a computer and I can't understand a word but when he talks to people at his level it seems to make sense to them. Never overestimate your audience.
Good luck with your venture.

A pleasing site to look at.
Content is a little thin, but that is to be expected for a start-up. I'd add references as soon as you are able.
When I buy from small organisations, I like to know more about the principals: I didn't see any biographical material.
The ubiquitous

their skills and contacts become shared, it is this "something special" that we have created and is at the heart of Radical Sports Management |
doesn't do anything for me. When we set up our business in 1986, we found the world didn't beat a path to our door when we told it how great we thought we were. Telling people very specifically how you can help them works much better (certainly in our industry, but I expect it's general).

Slick site, seems to load fast which is nice. But who the hell are you special people? No names, no profiles in sight. Or is that all coming later?
Best of luck, seems like an interesting venture.

This is a disgraceful statement to make on a site. If they've not been approved, don't use them. It's simple.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, Viewed fine in IE6.
Ladies there is a SZK mug shot there
So that's what you've been up to - I have been wondering. I can sort of see where you are coming from, what I am surprised at is that there is a demand for this sort of collaborative input. However, I hope for your sakes that your market research proves that there is and that you make a success of it. Good luck with the venture.

hyweljenkins, 1024 is the standard these days - change your screen res/get a better monitor
SMALLZOOKEEPER, the site looks great!
User experience is pretty clear for half the site: from the home page, it's apparent what the 'media' and 'training' sections will contain but it's not too clear what the 'collective' and 'development' sections will contain. For example, if I was an athlete looking for management, it wouldn't be clear to me if you offered that service unless I wandered around the site a bit. Would you consider re-naming the navigation links for those? Something as clear as 'sports management' and 'product development'
There's an old mantra applicable to websites: don't make your users think, i.e. they shouldn't have to decode the site in order to find information. Doesn't matter how tech-savvy your audience is, the goal is to get them to the pertinent information as easily and quickly as possible.
From a usability standpoint, 1024 width is more than acceptable these days. However, the "building your legacy" image to the left of the main content (nav_left_blue_text.gif) stops the main content area from centering in the browser if you reduce your browser size. I would say it's more important to have the main content visible than a strap line.
Might also be a good idea to have someone edit and proofread all the copy - preferably someone who hasn't seen it before. Spotted a few errors on all pages (typos, syntax, grammar). If your business will be providing media services then it's important to demonstrate good command of copywriting with regards to the site's content.
Hope all of the above is useful
Oh, and that db error Masque pointed out happens on the /newsevents/index.asp page (FF on Mac)

Zero-G, I have 1024 and the site is still too wide. A better monitor isn't an option (l10" laptop), and anyone worth their salt in web development knows that a site built properly will not be concerned with the screen resolution of the user agent. Please don't preach good web development practice to me.

What I think hyweljenkins is trying to say is that a good site auto-resizes the site for whichever resolution you are using rather than having it at a fixed resolution.
Other then that.. nice looking site SMALLZOOKEEPER, and it's natural to have these teething problems

Is a server generated error, the script is using more memory than his hosting plan allows.
Great design though, except the flash animation, pointless and annoying, is the use of flash here serving a purpose?
Or is it pointlessly necessitating the installation of a third party plugin?

Cheers everyone, your comments have been passed to the relevant sources and the site is still very much in development content-wise, keep an eye on it as it will be growing weekly.
It is an industry based project and we are grateful for your feedback, despite many of you not being industry types. Cheers.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, We may not be industry types but ultimately we're the mug punters you have to shift kit/ movies/ TV ratings/ lift passes/ heli flights / Xover product endorsements to.
My 2 pfennig - it doesn't help the industry to avoid unnecessary marketing codswallop if its specialist consultancies are trotting the stuff out in their own PR so maybe be a bit more direct about what you are and aren't doing. Appreciate that this may be difficult in start up phase as you don't want to cut off opportunities.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, OK it's up and viewable for me and very, very pretty . . . only if you want to use a butterfly net to capture a fart.
If you're trying to impress Joe Public then WTF are you on? If you're punting for industry commissions then you need less hyperbole and more specific content. A good start and keep working, but fer God'sake take a step back and read some of the bulls**it and typos before taking the next step.

"SMALLZOOKEEPER, PS. "BUILDING YOUR LEGACY" is either a crass euphamism for 'you're to stupid to know what you want' or 'we know what you want' . . . there is little positive spin that can be applied to that possessive statement that does not demean an informed reader. To be honest, I find it offensive for no other reason that there's 100 years of well documented ski history that your statement deems valueless

SMALLZOOKEEPER, If you would entertain an observation, if I were to trip over the site perhaps by following a google hit after a search for sports or something similar I think I would wonder, even more than I did already knowing your background from here, what it was all about. There are lots of pages, but nothing that says succinctly what the Radical Sports management is all about'
There is nothing that says in as many words what Radical Sports management will do, based on what I know so far I think you need something like:
'The purpose of Radical Sports Management is to provide an holistic service encompassing product development, testing, marketing and distribution of sports products and services. We will achieve this by drawing from experts in each of these fields to provide you with a team focussed on the delivery of your project needs'.
Or at least this is what I think its all about from what I've read so far.
If you had such a statement (or similar if my understanding is incorret), then you could introduce each aspect, say 'product development' or 'testing' on hyperlinked webpages on the website in more detail.
