Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pre ski fitness - what do you do?

I just stumbled across this (linked from elatemedia tips to profoot pages to this) and it looks very interesting. Could be twaddle but seems to make good sense... I imagine it's bloomin' expensive but for those with similar issues, perhaps an avenue to explore ;

I do some stretches which are particularly good for the upper body twist and skiing. One in particular I call the twisting lunge stretch.

http://endurancemag.com/index.php/endurance-blog/yoga-twisting-lunge-with-quadriceps-stretch.html

This is similar but it also stretches the quadriceps. I do it by stretching the groin area, and then simultaneously twisting the upper body to the opposing side. (i.e. left leg forward, then twist body to the left)

That helps with some myofarcial tension.

This is closer to what I do, but I do it less dynamically and hold it for 20 seconds.

The nerve tension I deal with by using a mechanical shiatsu massager pillow which I primarily use on the back of my neck. (this tends to be where I get most tension and it relieves all the muscles down my back)

I also stick a couple of tennis balls in a sock, and lean against a wall with the balls either side of the spine. Then go up and down the wall, like you are trying to scratch your back. The balls press on the muscles either side of your spine and release any tension there.

Yes the more search machines you have the better the "expert" you are (at least that's my personal experience Toofy Grin )

In a Harry Enfield sort of way this thread is a bit "I am considerably fitter than you" wink

Almost, but more like "Only me, you don't want to do it like that, you want to do it like this"

Mind you this image I have of BigDipper is getting even more entrenched now Smile

I'm posting this from the gym after my session with the physio and doing stuff.

Does that make me any more an expert?

I'd say so as "doing stuff" sounds very technical but to become a real fitness expert you have to be selling something. Something like ....
