Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The Herminator IS back (on top of the Podium)

Today Herman Maier bagged his first World Championship Gold Medal in 6 yrs! Beating Benni Raich and Daron Rahlves into second and third places in the giant slalom in Bormio, Italy. What's even more astonishing is that it's his first ever giant slalom win at the World Championships...

How a man can reach the top of such a demanding field, get smashed up the way he did and then reach the top all over again is incredible (IMO). Perhaps he took his nickname to heart?

In 2001, at the peak of his domination of the world of ski racing a he broke his leg in a Motor Cycle accident. There was little hope he would ski again given that he was close to losing the leg altogether and doctors at one point even thought he was paralysed.

He suggested that he might spend some of his prize money on the hotel rooms required by his fan club to stay the extra night due to the RAI TV workers' strike.

Maier's joy contrasted with the disappointment of Bode Miller, whose hopes of a record five Golds were dashed as he collided with an advertising hording leaving him in need of stitches to his chin.
