Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Brits adopting "tuck" position......

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Scarpa, Your elbows should be in front of your knees, hands as far forward as you can manage, sticks tuked under your arms and parallel to the ground. your back should also be as flat as possible. If you can manage it your knees should be in your armpits, but most people can't ( Laughing ). The idea is to make a V shape from your hands backwards so you slice through the air. The lower you are the less wind resistance. Most holiday skiers can manage about 30-45 seconds .... Sticks in the air is one of the ultimate signs of amateurism, and as I always tell my beginners, whatever level you are you can perform professionally at that level. Very Happy Very Happy counting TV sets on skis is very good entertainment. Laughing Laughing Laughing

easiski, Cheers for that. You're right... I tried the position and it is the back of the arm above the elbow that settles on the front of the knee. I always think of the skyward pointing skiers as little dodgems looking for the electrical connection above Laughing

Of course... the Flying K folk have it sussed.. pause to catch it.

You're thinking too technically. When we adopt the tuck in the "brit" position, it's usually to have a "rest". So adopt a tuck position but relax with hands on thighs or anywhere excet out front, relax, take in the air/scenery and think about what's for lunch/tea.

I'm sorry but that's the way it is Little Angel

For the best in Radio Luxembourg antennae have a look at the Nordic skiers; straight legs, hands on their knees, poles in the air to stop them dragging on the ground.

Oh and breathing so hard, trees are being sucked in from Norway.

Try carving hard from the tuck position for learning about correct body position; your hands/hips/shoulders relationship changes a bit...
