Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all

Going out to Brides in February, is it possible to ski back from Meribel or does it have to be the Bus / Gondola?

thanks

Paul

Nopey, can't ski back, depending on the snow levels you can get back to Les Allues, but otherwise its a 25 minute gondola ride, from Meribel

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

anarchicsaltire, you can ski back to Brides offpiste when the snow is good enough but it would be wise to go with a guide and it would depend on your level of skiing, there are, I believe, tricky sections to the descent. Never skiied it myself but I'm sure there are snowHead that have. Otherwise you can pick up the gondola in Les Allues as mrBishi, mentioned or at Le Raffort.

But don't bank on being able to get down to Les Allues by snow. I'd just stick to getting the last lift down from Meribel. But don't miss it! There ain't no bus.

I second what altis says, when we were there in the middle of February there wasn't enough snow to make it down to Les Allues, just use the bubble as an excuse to rest those weary limbs from a day of hard skiing! snowHead

I think you may wish you had booked further up the hill. All that time in the morning going up the hill when you could have been skiing.

I have skied right down to Brides one holiday when there was so much snow that everything else was closed due to avalanche danger. Nothing tricky about it but it would have to be very unusual conditions.

From what I recall it's a looongggg walk from the Brides-les-baines bubble to the main lifts.

If you've got a car you may want to drive up from Brides and park in Meribel - what we did when staying in BLB

There is an off piste route, I think it goes down from the Altiport. Dunno where it ends up though.
