Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Atomic Beta Carve 9-18

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

First post, just a quick question, in regards to atomic betacarv 9-18's.

I'm aware these are pretty old now and are not so hot for deeper conditions but I'm looking at picking up a pair second hand at the moment (with bindings) before I leave on my next trip during the first week of Feb. I'd say I'm definately an 'advanced' skier, not 'expect' but certainly comfortable in nearly all conditions.

Basically what should I be looking to pay for a pair 2nd hand?

Thanks.

Got some 0ld 11-20s with about 5-6 weeks on the clock if you are interested.

But - as you say - it is a pretty old range now

why not watch these and see how much they go for.

We've got some of those, in 170cms. My friend who visited last week, who brought with him a pair of Kneissl Carvers well taller than himself, dating from many years back, thought they were absolutely fantastic the first two days he skied on them. So they were, compared to what he was used to. But then the next two days he used my Rossignol Attraxion Vs (in 162) and thought those were even more fantastic. I would have thought that a pair of second hand Atomic betacarve 9-18 ought to be £50 at the most. My Attraxions were only £100 and they're heaps better skis.

£50! I suppose if the bindings and skis are near mint condition, then go for it. Actually, unless they are near-mint I wouldn't bother full stop. Twas a good intermediates' ski in its day tho.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Bindings on those may be worth more than the ski! $250 certainly looks too much.

Dr Poth, those bindings may be subject to recall. The model certainly is, the dates of manufacture need to be checked.

That said, if the bases are in good shape, up to £30 is a good deal on a cruisy semi-GS ski. Particularly if you have large calves and therefore like a binding with less ramp.
