Having a casino in a ski resort sounds like a unique combination of entertainment options. It could offer a fun way to unwind after a day on the slopes. But I still think it's much more convenient to play online.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

In response to the thread title (originally posted in 2009), I suppose how much a week in a Casino costs all depends on whether you are lucky. In the words of Clint Eastwood (in the Dirty Harry role) "...you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk?"

I like them. The Lake Tahoe ones are good for dealing with jet lag and the drinks are free while you are at the table, so stick to small stakes at the roulette or black jack and you can be there for hours. You do meet some weirdos though, all part of the fun.

There is a very carefully balanced algorithm casinos use for the frequency of drinks to the length of play and the ROI from cost. At low stakes machines or sports betting, you can probably expect one free drink an hour, and low tables raises that to a drink every 40-45 minutes; your overall costs unless luck is on your side will be between $150-$200 per hour.

Definitely! A casino at a ski resort sounds like a cool idea. It adds an extra layer of fun to the whole experience. Though personally, I find online casinos more convenient. |
It sounds totally pointless to me and, as was already mentioned, the casino in Zermatt had the longevity of a mayfly; an online casino has no location and a physical casino has the issue that people are spending time doing other stuff ... such as, I don't know, perhaps skiing ?

@Blackblade,
The casino in Seefeld has been going for as long as I can remember, but then most of the Milanese that go to Seefeld never do any skiing.

From St Moritz Casino regulations:
"EMPLOYEES’ DRINKING MONEY
84% of all tips are paid to Casino St. Moritz employees in the form of wage supplements. Gratuities of any other kind to employees are not permitted."

There's one in Briancon, but I've never felt the need to visit. They're only allowed it because Monetier-les-Bains up the road has a thermal spa.

There is a casino in Brides les Bains, I have been there once. Watched some teenage French singing Karaoke, and had a go on their grand piano in the discotheque. (it was early and disco had not started yet, either it needed a tune or I was playing like Les Dawson)

You know it makes sense.

Perhaps I’m just not a casino kind of person … and fail to empathise with those who are … I guess someone must be visiting all the casinos mentioned here (and losing money there) ….

@Bigtipper, we once had a fab meal in the adjacent restaurant- as long as you didn't go for the 'health spa' options, it was pretty delicious.
