Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wide Brakes

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have purchased a pair of Rossignol Blast skis with a width of 80mm.

I need to get a set of bindings which fit this ski, which means the brake width would have to be at least 80mm. Can you recommend any bindings?

Also, I have searched for details of the brake widths for Salomon 900s or 912s - or Tyrolia bindings or Rossignol bindings. The websites seem to only detail this year's model and talk in terms of wide brakes, without giving details on their standard ones. Does anyone know where this information is available?

Many thanks

wardjp, Can you still get the 912s? I have a pair on some 1080 Foils (85mm) and I think that is a wider brake - as I had to replace them recently (and I think the brake fixation sucks btw...)

Telemark pyrenees sell spare brakes for Salomon - and I think you will see there is a range of widths...

That probably does not help much... Toofy Grin

wardjp, there's your answer from someone who actually knows.

I find the 912s need bits tightened and adjusted way more frequently than any other bindings I have had.

welcome to snowHeads btw... snowHead

SMALLZOOKEEPER, indeed.

I also had a bit of fun last year when I chucked my skis on the ground at the end of a small hike, and watched as one slid off leaving the brake assembly behind... Evil or Very Mad

I would recommend just getting or reusing your favorite binding and bending the brakes out. I took my trusty salomon s810s off mid 70mm skis which they were made for and put them on some skis 88mm underfoot. I haven't had any problems yet and i've certainly bailed enough times to test them out!

I've got a pair that needed loctite'ing that I got off TGR, and a new pair of STH916s that've had no trouble. I think the adjustment screws strip easily and people like to over-crank them.
