Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi,
My husband is 50 this year and as a surprise, I would love to take him skiing for a few days. He has been once before but just to Scotland and he LOVED it. We also have a 9 year old son who may be coming. Can anyone give me any ideas as to where I should go? As much info as poss as I really have no idea where to start!
Would need lessons if poss and definitely for the 9 year old as he has never been.
Would like somewhere with nice long wide runs, mainly Green and Blue.
Please help guys as I am looking to go between JAN 29TH + FEB 9TH or FEB 24TH -MAR 7TH.
We live in Newcastle upon Tyne so any info on places where we could get flights from Newcastle / Teeside would be fab!
Any tips / ideas / suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks a million.

Welcome to snowheads Samster.
My personal favorite for learning is Zauchensee in Austria http://www.holiday-pearls.at/winter/en_index.php
Gentle easy slopes.
Small ski area with all slopes except one leading back to the village.
Very high standard of Tuition.
Both My wife and kids loved learning to ski in Zauchensee
High enough to have reliable now.
Almost all accomadation is ski in Ki out (all hotels 4*). Zauchensee hof is good, with its own ski school, and is run by the walchoffer family.
Only 1 hour from Salzburg airport.

I'll second the encouragement to come with us! The lessons are in groups of only 4 people and the company will be good! The nearest flights for you I think would be from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Grenoble with Ryanair - very cheap at the moment too £10, no taxes for the seat - but u do have to pay for hold baggage & a check-in fee so all told probably about £50 a head.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
How do I go about booking? Is it possible to go for about 4 days or is the minimum a week?
Would my son be in a different class?

SAMSTER, Yes - your son would be in another school so we could make arrangements to keep it all more or less together in time. The course is 6 days but there's nothing to stop you coming for a shorter time and still enjoying the company. eg: if your husband has skied once before (even a long time ago) it might be possible to join the beginners class midweek after they've had their first couple of days - or there's one place int he class 1 level which might be better ... Suggest you with PM me or email me (see my website link) if you'd like to discuss it in more detail.

SAMSTER, another place that has a good reputation for beginners and mostly English-speaking tuition is Andorra. I've been to Soldeu twice and enjoyed it. Sorry, don't know about Newcastle flights though!
