Poster: A snowHead

Hi everyone,
I have a pair of Smith I/O goggles which I have used in La Plagne in December.
I really liked them. Great fit, brilliant ventilation (so finally I've found something which doesn't fog up) and look cool.
But my only negative is that the two lenses that come with them, neither of them are that great in flat light. There is one supposed to be good in flat light, but I found it only good in dark light, i.e. at the end of the day and it was getting dark.
Does anyone know the best lens to get which is the best for flat light? I've had a look at the Smith Optics website but I can't work out which is the best ones, as there are a few they suggest (including one of the ones that came with the goggles).
The lenses I have already are: Ignitor and Sensor Mirror
My friend had a pair of goggles a few years ago that I tried once in flat light and they were great. They had a pinky tint I think.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Matt

Welcome to Snowheads Lilolad.
Generally for flat light you should be looking for (or through), a yellow lens. So I guess the yellow lense at the link below.
from an experiance view poinbt, I only use yellow in flat light.

Thank you very much.
The lens that came with it is a blueish one, so I'll go with what you guys suggest.
Many thanks for your help,
Matt

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

lilolad, I've found pinky goggs very good for flat light (not in Smiths, but that shouldn't matter). I also have a pair of specs (Adidas?) with ordinary orangey/brown lenses and sort of add on pink lens for flat light, which is great although it gives a silvery appearance to some areas of snow, which is a bit weird.

Interesting - I just got some I/O's as I'd heard really good things about the Sensor Mirror and Fernie is the land of flat light. The Smith site seems to imply that they let more light in than the yellow ones on that link too! I haven't worn them yet (waiting for my Smith helmet off pro-form, they look awful with a Giro G10!). I'll see how they do!

I think its a pay off between light, contrast and depth filters...somethigns you want more light in and somethimes more contrast..which i suppose is a lot easier if you're a one run racer as opposed to us who have to do many runs with varying terrain and light conditions across the whole day...otherwise you probably end up changing lenses ever 5mins
