Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm a bit of a newbie to booking these holidays, going two weeks March 7-21 and not sure whether better to stay in Zell and make visits to Kaprun when bored or if there's not much snow lower down, or to do it the other way round (or even go to Obergurgl, instead. Decisiveness is not one of my best qualities).
I'm a fairly good intermediate and the wife's a beginner – crazy nightlife isn't our thing, but we like to get out of the hotel occasionally.
I can't bear the thought of going for two weeks - and then there not being much snow.

, welcome too snowHeads
Personally, I would stay in Zell am See. The skiing at the glacier is a couple of km away from Kaprun, so you would have to drive/get the ski bus there anyway...so what's another 10 mins from Zell? I really like Kaprun, but think that there is probably more to do in Zell. And don't worry about snow......they'll have plenty
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Really liked Zell , very quick and easy to go to Kaprun with skibus. We only went once and it was enough. Zell very nice authentic town.

Been to this region numerous times and stayed in both Kaprun, Zell. Both offer excellent dining options and have good apre. The ski bus runs regularly through the whole region so dont worry too much about which village. If you like the little village feel go for Kaprun, for a more towny feel with large 'chain style' stores go for Zell.
Personnally I prefer Kaprun, its closer tothe glacier IMO the best skiing in the area. I was there last week of November and had a fantastic week. Whatever you choose have a good one!!
