Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi Folks

A big thanks to all those who replied with info about the above resort to a earlier thread of mine.
We had a great week and saw the new year arrive in VT.
The pistes were in good condition although sligthly icey in places but as first time skiers me and the wife did not have any problems. Weather was superb with clear blue skies and loads of sunshine.
The wife was confident on the green runs and tackled Plein Sud a couple of times.
I managed to tackled some blues including: Plein Sud, Pluviometre, Tete Ronde, Moraine and my first red was Portette which I found to be great fun. Sadly we run out of time before I could try some other reds.
Son & Heir who can ski did loads of reds and quite a few blacks including Cascades, one from the top of the 3 vallees 2 lift and one form the top of Cime de caron among others.
Big thanks again to all who supplied me with pre trip info.

Yes it was good especially new years day when i got the first lift up the funital peclet and skied down in beautiful powder ....alas it didnt last! The next day it was very icy, however things improved yesterday and the slopes were empty the sun was out and the snow was good....pity about the nightmare e-urostar night train return.....never again!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

New years day was stunning - crystal clear skies and sunshine and slopes seemed a bit quiter, possibly due to over indulgence on New years eve, at least till after lunch.
Only had a two hour delay at Geneva on Saturday so not too bad - but luggage did take about 45 min at Manchester to appear on the carousel.
Loved Val thorens, although it was EXPENSIVE but would love to go back now I`ve caught the ski bug.
What happened with eurostar?
Also we have cosidered driving next time and just wondering if anyone has any experience or tips on getting there by car/tunnel.

Cheers

Paul
