Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Need a bit of ski clothing advice please...

Well i'm in the market for a ski jacket and some new salopettes ready for the new ski season! I've decided on some White Rock Storm salopettes as seen here http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/White_Rock_Storm_Mens_Ski_Pants.html so all I need now is a jacket.

My budget is around £150 maximum, so I was looking at the following:

Helly Hansen Velocity Jacket £149 http://www.winwood-outdoor.co.uk/acatalog/Helly_Hansen_Mens_Velocity_Jacket_RedEbonyWhite.html

Sun Valley Valve Jacket £90 http://edge2edgeshop.co.uk/product/1082/Sun_Valley_Valve_Jacket

White Rock Avalanche SX-i Jacket http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/White_Rock_Avalanche_SX_i_Mens_Ski_Jacket.html

Soooo... is the HH worth the extra moolah? As well as performing like a champ relative to cost, I really want the jacket to be red too for visibility on the slopes... so do any of these look ok? I need to get it delivered within a week before I go back to Switzerland, so really could do with ordering asap.

Thanks in advance. Smile

Richdog,Why not go and have a look in your local T K Maxx? You should be able to find something a bit cheaper.

I looked in there and didn't like anything i'm afraid... so really looking for opinions on the jackets in my post, or ideas for ones of similar quality. I'm not bothered about the cheapest I can find, just ones that provide good value while being good performers. I can afford to pay a wee bit extra, so anything up to £150 is fine. Smile

Richdog, don't know about that specific HH jacket but I have a HH from about 5 years ago and the only reason I'm not still wearing it is a was a bit bored and wanted a new one. The quality is fantastic, I stayed bone dry and very warm on days of heavy snowfall and minus 17 temps , and it was by far the best 'technical' piece of skiwear I've had (in over 20+ years and LOTS of skiwear Very Happy ).

Hi Annie that's good to know... seems like they are good performers then. I've also been looking at this pair of HH snowboots... but at £90 it may be oushing the boundaries of sensibility... http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Helly_Hansen_Equipe_Insulated_Mens_Snowboot.html Laughing

Having said that I woin't be changing kit for a couple of years most likely, so... Twisted Evil

Hi sps89,

Unfortunately not only is the jacket only in large size, but it has no red option. Two No-no's. I really like this one, but alas... no M size left http://www.mandmdirect.com/products-Helly-Hansen-Mens-Mover-Ski-Jacket-RedWhite_HH559.htm Sad

As for those HH pants... I really like them and they are very cheap, but without the shoulder braces i'd be worried about them coming down during the day! Very Happy

No, I want it to be red for visibility reasons and because I think it's a great skiing colour and goes with my boots... anyhow I think I have a right to choose any colour I like really... but thanks for the rolleyes smiley: 'empowering internet warriors since 1972'. Wink Laughing

Anyway i've just ordered those HH pantrs and the red HH jacket I linked... i'll see if it fits and if not just send it back for a refund. Either way both are too cheap to pass up really, and that M and M Direct is dirt cheap for everything, my basket has increased substantially in the last 20 mins. Laughing
