Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Single antenna transcievers question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
With sufficient practice, are single antenna transceivers as effective as the more modern multiple antenna transceivers.

Basically would an experienced and/or practiced person with a single antenna find a buried person slower than a novice person with a multiple antenna?

i have an Ortovox F1 Focus (single antenna). For a single burial, I doubt any of the more modern ones would let me find the victim faster. In fact, I think (may be wrong though) that the F1 still has the best range out there so the F1 could be faster in some circumstances.

For a multiple burial:

1. I think the F1 would be as fast or faster than anything else on the market up to a couple of years ago
2. the S1 and Pulse almost certainly be faster in the hands of someone who had done a little practice with them
3. multiple burials are something you should do your utmost to avoid (by good group discipline etc) so query how much of a benefit the multiple burial functionality is

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The DSP is outside my budget, so the F1 is starting to look more appealing.
Im the kinda person who will practice the hell out of this, and use the excuse to check other members of a group's search ability periodically.

Cheers.
