Poster: A snowHead

I live in Cheltenham and just wondered whether anybody had any experience of purchasing ski boots from Horace Barton (at the rear of Cavendish House).

Powerkiter, the downstairs part of the formal hire shop place (never really looked at the names).

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, that is the place. Called in on Saturday but they were too busy with customers so I couldn't have a chat with them. Appear to have a good set up with regards to fitting boots but just wondered what peoples experiences were.

I've looked in there a coulpe fo times, but never seen anybody being fitted for boots (and already had my own before I started working in Cheltenham), so how good they are I couldn't say. The one staff member I have spoken to there didn;t really seem that clued up on the ski stuff, but I would hope they'll have a specialist for fitting boots.

I've not bought boots there but I've had footbeds done there. They have a good reputation and (AIUI) a family history in ski racing.

Never used the boot service but, last year I took three sets of kids ski's, which I had bought on ebay, to have the bindongs checked and set. I assume it was the father who did the work, and then he would only accept a donation into the charity boxes as payment!.

Had all our boots fitted there, Giles, the son, did a good job doing the fittings and the footbeds. Always found them friendly, polite and helpful....

Great service with a smile, range of kit not brilliant but fine for a provincial shop.
Well that's a good way of getting Glos Snowheads to show their faces!!

My experiences have been fairly similar. Go in on the right day, as the boot guy is only in at certain times (no idea what they are). But a friendly service, and I've heard good things about them (though I've not had any boots fitted there myself).
We must have a C&G drink, unfortunately I missed the meet up at the dry-slope that easiski organizes.

Hmm, my experiences of this place were very bad, Giles fitted me with boots two sizes too big!!! My advice is to wait untill you are out in the resort where you can get things sorted if there are any problems.
I would agree that they are very friendly and seem to know what they are saying, but be careful. You have been warned.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I'm not totally sure who I was fitted by, he was defiantly an older guy though. But I can say he was pretty spot on.
