Poster: A snowHead

Hi Guys
I'm hoping you can give me a bit of advice!
I am wanting to buy some new skis that will perform well on piste and off piste. I am a pretty confident skier and over the last season have been venturing off piste more and more but still want something that performs well on those piste days! I'm looking at the Head Great Ones at the moment and am wondering what people think of them, also the Bandits SC80 as skied the B78 last year and got on with them pretty well.
Any advice would be great

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

How good are you on piste, how often have you been off piste, and how much are you hoping to?
What is your level of skiing on a scale of 10, look up Snow and Rock's guidelines on their site although this is by no means a catch all: http://www.snowandrock.com/buying_guide_skis.htm
Also, you should give you height and weight for this so people can help a bit more.
I asked a similar question a while back and the HEAD Monsters were the choice at the time. I have since tried mid fats in a number of resorts and I really like some of the twin tips plus I'm hoping to get into off piste a bit more. Maybe the fact that I now carry a backpack with stuff in has added weight so the wider skis perform better for me...not sure.
Also, do you read Fall Line or other ski mags. They often come out with some reviews pre season, which make for good reading...

Head Great Ones should be a good bet. Or how about Movement Spicys? That's what my wife is going to use this season for on/off piste.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks guys will check out the threads you posted!
A little more info then:
I am around 5ft 4/ 5ft 5 and 63 kg, on the snow and rock scale a 6/7. Just started to get into off piste more last season with a couple of awesome weeks in Davos and Chamonix - did the valle blanche on a beautiful blue sky day awesome! Want to try and ski off piste as much as possible really but still want something that will perform ok on piste as well!
Thanks for the heads up on the ebay skis but 170 much too long for me

Cool, about the same as me. Vallee Blanche is a wicked day but massively full of people!
I am thinking about doing some technique courses and off piste stuff this year...that's sometime this year (March, April, May) when I get back into London from travelling
Something along the lines of this: http://www.snoworks.co.uk/ - but there's plenty of others.
Let me know if you or anyone's interested...
Cheers

Nat0208, Nordica Enforcers, Volkl Bridges, Scott Missions. Wait till you're in resort, ski the three and chose one. Easy.
