Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Junior skis with rental or adjustable bindings?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Is it possible to buy junior \kids skis with rental \ adjustable bindings?
Is this a practical option or do people just re-drill and move bindings? Puzzled

Not having unlimited funds the 'buy as we need' isnt really an option. Hire rates are not cheap, but its the lifespan of a set of junior skis that affect whether buying is an option. I see plenty of standard set ups but never rental or rail type settings. With the rate that children grow, particularly their feet (several shoe sizes a year), an adjustable set up may mean a set if skis lasting 3 or more seasons.

What to other Snowheads do?

BMF_Skier, Got some salomon rental bindings from edge to edge near gatwick and transfered them from ski to ski. (well only once, left them on the last pair for very mini carroz in about 4 years time) I have just purchased these from ebay with rentals on them. Second time i have mentioned them on here, not pimping honest! Embarassed Bindings only go up to din 4.5

BMF_Skier, Decathlon are doing great deals on Atomic junior skis. Go for their Evo binding (0.5 to 4 din) which aren't true demo bindings (which is good as demo's are heavy) but they have a lot of length adjustment in the heel piece. If you have them mounted with the heel piece well forward in it's track then there's 2/3 boots sizes of growth room available by simply sliding the heel piece back.

All bindings have some heel adjustment built-in. OK it might mean that your offspring isn't perfectly centred once you move them, but it's not critical. Rental bindings are quite heavy, which will be an issue for the little ones. As spyderjon, says, just get something with a good heel track with plenty of spare movement and you'll be fine. Kids' skis don't last that long before they lose their 'bounce', so the ski is just as likely to give up as the capacity of the binding.

BMF_Skier, There are definitely Atomic junior skis in the Surrey Quays store at very good prices.

Only the race8s are the website http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/race-8-47591920/ although I thought there were others (and the Race 8s will do just about all anyway.
