Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,
I've been offered a pair of Scott Punisher skis 2009, 172 cm with Scott S12 bindings for £250. They've been demo'd once and only done one run at chill factor.
I think they are a bargain but am a bit concerned they may be too short for me. I am 72kg and 178cm tall. I am an advanced skier with about 8 years experience. Would the 182 cm be better for me or would the 172 cm be OK? My last skis were some 176 cm K2's.
Cheers,
Diddly

I'd think 172 will be too short.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Diddly, too short I think. I'm just under 165cm and 60kg and I ski the Missions in 168.

Hi, funnily enough I have just brought these skis in the same length but with Tyrolia Peak 12 bindings. I am pretty much exactly the same height and weight as you too. The only difference is I am much more an intermediate skier which is why I went for the 172 rather than the 182, if I was better I would have gone for the 182. Great price you have been offered though!

Diddly, welcome to .
Question: why would you buy skis longer than yourself? Thats what racers do. if you want to do pipes you should go with 172. i am 168 and my skis are 163. shorter will give you more control, sharper, easier turns.
Rule: You can ALWAYS ski shorter skis.

182 every time. They'll ski waaaaay shorter than 172 cos of the twin tips

Diddly, are 172 and 182 different models? because if not, Sharkymark doesnt make sense. how can you ski shorter on longer skis just because they are twin tips?

Fess 172 and 182 are just the lengths they are the same model. I guess what Sharkymark is saying is that the 172cm will ski like a 167cm and the 182cm will ski like a 177 cm cause of the twin tips, which does make me think the 172 cm could be a bit on the short side.
