Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New years in Val Thorens....

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Me and my new wife are off to Val Thorens for the new yew, travelling by eurostar to moutiers on 27-12. We are staying slopeside in a ground floor apartment so I guess we cant get nearer to the skiing than what we will have!
However after skiing where are the best bars and restaurants? Dont want to spend a fortune but not a skinflint either!

Also what can we expect for the new year festivities? What bars will be the best? ...any fireworks?

any info given greatly appreciated

oh yea how easy is it to ski to other resorts such as les menures and meribel for a 3 week skiier? (not Me but the MRS!)

Can't comment too much on the bars as we tended to end up in a decent Irish Bar for apres ski. It's located at the bottom of the town in the Rue du Soleil.

A 3 week skier should have no problem skiing to Les Menuires - or the other 2 valleys either for that matter. You can get almost everywhere via blue runs and some of the reds are so wide that they can be very user friendly. As long as you set off early and allow plenty of time to get home the 3 Valleys will be your oyster!

There are some fantastic (usually quiet - even over New Year) runs above Courchevel 1650.

You'll love it and you'll see why it's rated as one of the world's best ski areas.

daveqpr for good value i'd recommend happy hour in the viking, 2 for1 on drinks and last winter was 4 til 7 i think Very Happy

getting to les menuires is very easy, there's a run that's like a road that goes there from VT but it can involve a bit of polling along

Roger C, the run you speak of is horrible, you sit on your bindings for the first half trying to keep your momentum untill you stop and then you have to pole push for ages. not fun. daveqpr, Third weekers ought to have no problems as long as they can ski a wide red in good conditions. I skied the three valleys in my third week and loved it but then I'm an idiot and skied black runs in 2nd week Very Happy
