Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi jpski, welcome to snowHead s.

Sorry, I don't know much about VDI accommodation, I've only stayed in Tignes. Hopefully someone helpful will be along soon. rolling eyes

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

jpski, if he's working for a TO you will probably get a family/friends discount with them - worth a look.

jpski, welcome to Snowheads. snowHead He'll probably know lots of people by then and will have ideas, including seasonnaires who rent out room on sofas etc. to eke out their living (my son did this in Val D'I a few years ago, when he shared a little one bed apartment with a ski instructor. They used to bunk up together and let out space when they were short of dosh). It's a low season week - I wouldn't worry about booking something at this stage unless something v cheap comes up.

jpski,

I hope you find accommodation.

However you may have a problem. The Skiing World Championships are being held in Val D between the 3rd and 15th of Feb. The town will be rather full from at least the week before the championships because they will be practicing before the comp.

Your question is very open and therefore hard to answer. Can you be more specific on what you're looking for ie. a floor space, self catering, B&B in a hotel, full board in a 4 * hotel? Where is your brother staying for the season?

Have you tried the Val D Tourist Office? I'm not sure they'll be much use however because of the World Championships?

jpski, check out www.yseski.com - they have a chalet (Juniper) that deals with individuals. Otherwise just look at the val website like others have said

Thanks everyone for all the responses. I actually got my seasonaire job a couple of years ago through a kindly poster on here. Kudos the snowheads.

My little brother is off to work for Scott Dunn so not sure they will be keen on me crashing on the floor.

I am pretty easy about the type of accommodation to be honest - as an Aberdonian I love the cheapness but happy to pay more as I got free flights (only my bags had to pay £40 return).

jpski,

There's a UCPA (a bit like a French youth hostel) in Val D try a Google search.

YSE book price for the week 25 Jan - 1 Feb incl flights, transfers and Half Board is £545. That's the cheapest package you'll get for a solo traveller and their food is superb.

I stayed at les Chardons with a friend once. As long as you can speak a little frech and can laugh at the slight eccentricities of the fabulous owner, the place is clean, good value and friendly. www.hotel-les-chardons.com/. Or try Action Outdoors for the UCPA option.
