Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Four of us going by car for a week anywhere in Europe starting 8 Jan.

Most of Europe appears to have poor snow with none on its way - where are we going to find the best snow conditions?

John, we can do you a deal in La Rosiere, there's still good skiing or there was when I was there last week. We have availability from 9th January until the 16th Jan. PM me or call us our contact details can be found on our ad in snowShops or go to www.tracksvacations.com.

Hi John, we have good early season conditions at Puy Saint Vincent and with a car and Galaxie pass for Puy you could do days at Serre Che, La Grave, Les Deux Alpes Montgenevre etc. if you wanted.

Take a look here for more info.

Looking at the weather for the next few days, anywhere where there is already snow (possibly the southern French resorts), or go as far east as you can. That big high pressure over France & the Med is causing a big problem. Unfortunately no-one's predicting it to break down for at least a week. There's plenty of frontal systems coming through northern-central europe this week, but the fronts are fading on the slopes of the high or being deflected round and coming down over eastern Austria and Czech areas. There may be some snow on/from Tuesday (11th) in western areas, but it doesn't look like a lot and a week is too far out to have a lot of confidence.

There may be some snow in northern areas later this week, but it's looking like northern Switzerland will be the southern limit in the western part of the Alps. Germany might be worth a look.

[EDIT:] Another look at the NWP suggests that there may a reasonable amount in the middle of next week, but it's still too far out for real confidence. Also, looking at the MetO's FAX charts - as opposed to the models - a small low does develop over the northern Med for a day later this week. It might bring some precipitation further south than I say above. Difficult one though.

john wells, if you're driving down you could always use Bourg St Maurice as a base to go to wherever the snow's best. 3 bed apartment going spare w/c Jan 8th, now half advertised rate.
