Poster: A snowHead

Hi,
I'm a 28 yr old intermediate/advanced female skier and need new boots.
I ski both on and off piste and usually manage a couple of heli ski trips per year. My old boots are now getting baggy and I haven't the foggiest idea what to buy.
If it's any help I'm a size 38 in Gucci although often need a 39 in my Choo's.
Money is no object and I'm happy to spend as much as it takes to get the very best fit.
Can anyone advise what boots I should be trying and where should I be buying them from?
Thank you
DME

If money is no object go to a specialist boot fitter and sort it out there. There are a few on here who will no doubt advise you.
There's no point in talking about specific brands or models, it's whatever fits your feet best that wins every time.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good luck with the search. A warning to all about the danger of leaping up into the air with excitement out of the chopper before the blades have stopped rotating. Good on you for having the balls (sorry !) for deciding to go the whole way and complete the "transformation".

dme, If money no object, get yourself to Lech and buy yourself a pair of Strolz boots (will cost around €600). Totally custom fitted - shell, inner and footbed . I bought a pair this year and have had 2 weeks skiing on them and found them amazing. http://www.strolz.at/english/gesamt.htm is one of the best shops I've been into and I'm sure you could stock up on more Gucci and Prada whilst your there too

boabski, I fitted a guy last year that had bought Stroltz boots, skied them for years and loved them. He needed to change. Walked out the store with a standard Salomon boot, off the shelf footbed and standard liner. Came back the next day claiming they were % better than his Stroltz.
This is not meant as a story about our skills but simply to re-enforce that correct boot selection is available without the need for such Spin.

dme,
If you live in London there are 2 specialist ski boot shops, Profeet and Surefoot both in Fulham. Surefoot also have shops in Paris, New York and other major cities.
Surefoot also has shops in Verbier, Val D'Isere, Chamonix, Courchevel and a lot in US ski resorts so if you buy them in London and have problems in these resorts they will sort them out for you in the resort.
If you're in Lech or Zurs, Strolz is the place for custom made ski boots.

You know it makes sense.

I second Surefoot if you have the money, we have a store in Whistler.
They make custom molded foam injected liners into whatever boot they end up fitting you.
I don't have them, but everyone who does says they are way better than their old boot/liner combo.
Otherwise, go to a few ski boot shops and let a pro bootfitter help you out - don't care about colours/shapes etc - only about how they fit, and get the one that fits bests.
Tell them you are a good skier to make sure they give you a stiff(ish) boot.
