When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Injured Maier may miss World Cup races in North America

Austrian ski hero Hermann Maier has injured his back and may have to miss the World Cup races in North America, according to the Austrian ski federation. Maier injured his back in mid-October, but the exact nature of the injury was not determined until recently....While he does not require an operation, his fitness to race is unclear right now, and his participation in the World Cup races in the US and Canada will have to be decided on short notice. He was not scheduled to compete in Finland last weekend.

I hope he's fit as soon as possible. He's one of the guys I love watching and support (after any British entrant of course). There's just something about his aura and how he fought back from serious injury to get back to the WC circuit. It's amazing he's still going really, he should probably have retired with Eberharter... wink
