Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yes, has to be one of the best deals on offer and has caused a right to do in the smoke filled rooms of other ski resort's management meetings. They've had advertising all over the local towns like Grenoble and Chambery too. Just hope its not too crowded Happy.

Oooh ta davidof.
I'm planning 4-6 weeks in Chamonix from the end of March. I still don't know that much about skiing the area - will be there for some climbing so figured I should stay to ski until the snow runs out. Do you think the Chamonix Le Pass would suffice or should I opt for the full monty Mont Blanc Unlimited?

I heard that Valloire is complete rubbish, even at that price, I strongly suggest nobody goes there, especially during half term week. Twisted Evil

Good to see that basic economics and a little bit of competition is catching on in the Alps, as the week long package punters decline, resorts are well advised to do a bit more to pull in the casuals & locals who aren't necessarily fixed on a particular place a long time in advance. Hard to see how they recoup the cash if they don't own the ski hire/on mountain restos etc though.

No.

Courchevel is not a CdA company, therefore holiski won't cover that resort.

not really no, they do a premiere neige price but even that is expensive. I remember a guy from the national TV news (TF1) rolling up with a camera man for the opening day a few years back. Both were in "city" wear and explained to the lift office woman that they wanted to take the lift up to the Saulire to take some footage for the 8pm bulletin.

"fine, no problem" said the LP woman, "that will be 50 euros please"
"No I don't think you understand" stammered the reporter
"Yes I do pefectly, you want to use our lifts, that will be two "walkers" passes"

They asked to speak to the head of the tourist office or ski lifts

"they are at lunch, until 2pm, which is where I'm going now", explained the LP chick.

Such a waste of €7.

The offer seems to be for the 10th Jan, the day we arrive for a week so €7 for 1/2 a day on the slopes seems like good value if we make it Very Happy

Yes but it takes 3 hours to drive up the hill to La Rosiere from BSM, so you probably wont wink

I'd have thought 'probably the best ski resort in the world' (tm) would have invented teleportation - bus to BSM, get changed in warm changing rooms, teleport to top of the mountain where you'll be handed the correct boots/skis for your needs, meanwhile your luggage is being driven up the hill and unloaded into your chalet.

OK OK I was joking - it just feels like 3 hours... but is probably a good 1/2 an hour to get upto resort in winter conditions.

Rob@Rar is right, it's a lot quicker to the lower chair, but I will be unable to join any snowheads in La Wossiere on that day as I'll be driving to Cham (via GVA) for the McNab snowboard clinic.

I'd say a little more than 15 minutes but a lot less than three hours. wink That lift pass sounds like a really good argument for getting up there early.
