Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The comments on many articles of this nature are not always visible. I suppose it should say snowsports rather than skiing too.

There seem to be precious few skis in the Snow and Rock catalogue this year compared to previous ones.

Fascinating article. Clicking the link above takes you to a page where the "headline" skiing essential is a snowboard! Um!! The main list has two snowboards before the first skis. A nice fun piece to give ideas on how to spend more money.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Interesting list Latchigo.
It seems "skiing" now is a group term for both skiing and boarding - item 1 is a Burton Board.
Item 2 is bound to go down well here Toofy Grin
And Duct Tape down at 41? Surely should be in the Top 10.

I see Profeet get a mention for their boot-fitting services. Maybe CEM and SZK should bung a few freebies to the Ski Club big wigs...

I wouldn't trust any list that recommends no mens Volkl skis and quite so many Salomon products... Shocked Little Angel

The Independent "50 best" lists are almost always complete and utter cack. Usually look like they have been done on the basis of half an hour's work by a junior researcher using 5 or 6 web-based sources.

The Independant do a "50 best of" list every saturday.
It's a bit of fun and it breaks up the mediocraty of having to work on a saturday. Very Happy

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

But it is absolutely pointless have a "50 essentials" that contains a number of the same type of products.

We only need one ski jacket, in general. One pair of ski boots. etc.

And except where there is something genuinely innovative about a specific product, they shouldn't be picking specific models/brands at all.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

My understanding was that skiing is the generic and boarding, alpine and cross country are the specifics.

I use the term 'going skiing' even when I now I'm porbably going snowboarding, probably because it is shorter and easier to say!
