Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dry slope at Aviemore?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Thought I might get trip onto snow at weekend as we are off to Aviemore. Looking at the website though the funicular is closed for maintenance until December (nice planning!)

Is there a dry slope for public use at Aviemore? There used to be one, but I can't find anything online.

Many thanks.

Nope, the Aviemore one is long gone. In fact the ski tow from it is lying rusting away in the Ciste Carpark on CairnGorm... Seems to be a general dumping ground for unwanted crap rolling eyes Given that, its a surprise you never find the CML board round that way! Mad

There is a short dry slope at Glenmore Lodge, not sure about it's public availability though, plus one at Loch Insh (Watersports centre by Kincraig) about 6 miles from Aviemore. There is also a tiny slope by the Glenmore Shop and Cafe, but it's mostly used for sledging and occasional beginner lessons.

Thanks everyone. Did a tour of the dry slopes, and went up the hill, just to mourn over what could have been ....

I see the "rope" style tow is alive and well on the dry slopes in the north. Takes me back to the days when our local farmer set up a rope tow powered from the back of his tractor- torn gloves and hands everywhere.
