Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Free Accommodation in the Swiss Alps?

Whats the deal?. Nothings ever for free.

True, but if you Like the idea of skiing the Swiss Alps. You might find this interesting.

If you ve looked at the ads for working Europe. you'll figure out you wont get much skiing done.

This is something different.

Our deal is this , work for 2.5 days a week play the rest its, that simple.

We are a british family of 4 living in switzerland, we have a private luxury chalet that we use on the weekends and swiss school holidays.

We would like to find a chalet helper/ chalet couple to look after it (and us) for the winter season, not just as house keepers but people who love to ski as well.

What that means is you work on weekends then get to ski or do your own thing for the other 5 days of the week of the week.

Typically we would arrive most weekends on a friday night, and leave Sunday evening. We would expect you to do regular household chores, cooking, cleaning, occasional child minding and pre grommit teaching, and other helpful activities ensuring our stress free weekend. In return you get a whole week to do what you like. (Ski).

Occasionally we may have house guests, and school holidays mean we would stay for longer periods which is an extra work load, but not a disaster.

The chalet is in a well known resort in central Switzerland. Local Skiing (70 km sq) is literaly 50 yards from your door. Other famous ski areas such as Engleberg, Wengen, Grindlewald, Murren , Gstaad, Andermatt,Adelboden are within easy reach.

Accomodation is inside the chalet in a fully segregated 2.5 room appartment.
and at your disposal . During the week of course you can use the full facilities of this luxury chalet.

We like to hear from genuine applicants preferably a couple, naturally you should be capable of doing all tasks above without difficulty, or attitude.
What you do in your own time up to you of course,

Could be an all time great TGR troll - or just some w**ker of a rich expat who thinks he can buy off slaves on the cheap with the the promise of free accomodation in a ski resort - reads to me a bit like "We're too rich to look after our own kids or sort out our own stuff at the weekend or on holiday"

Actually I thought it was more along the lines of have 5 days of sking in return for doing some basic chores an letting me spend more recreation time with my family, but its hard to get that across without sounding like a rich ex pat w**ker. How do you think i could put it better. Being a w**ker obviously i have no clue.

nixmap, Perhaps a little bit of humility might help - the sort of person you want for the job is likely to read the requirements paragraph and wonder whether they are setting themselves up for a winter of misery with some overdemanding primadonnas. I realise you don't want ski bum wasters but TGR is an interesting palce to place your ad, did you do any research?

Oh and welcome to snowheads wink

Not sure whether it is relevent whether I am being suitably humble - if you note I originally posted before the insulted party had even become a member of snowheads and was really anticipating he/she to be a classic tgr troll. My reading of the post was exactly that - the emphasis on luxury came across to me as a bit of a brag, a long list of expected tasks - chef, nanny, cleaner, ski teacher, waiter for houseguests etc. I'm sure its a deal that will work for some.

Hurtle, I think you're English teaching may be a little over the heads of the kids, if I've read the advert right, they may be a little bit young for advanced grammar. wink Laughing

nixmap, welcome to snowHeads. I can't see anything wrong with the advert, and certainly not with the job. Not too many ways of letting people know what you want, and what you want them to do without actually listing it... rolling eyes An average of couple of days work each week for accommodation for the season seems quite reasonable - but then maybe that's just me, my last job entailing so many hours that my salary came out at about £2.52 per hour.

Well at least a few sane responses, I guess luxury is laying it on a bit thick, I was trying to make sound attractive, but what ever the word you want to use we think its jolly nice.

Roger, adding a 12 month baby to the mix is not exactly what I had in mind, Ill have a word with the boss, but I suspect having escaped the whole baby era not too long ago. She won't be that keen.

Fatbob thanks for the advice (really) , no I didnt do any research at all, and honestly the replies in here are tame compared to TGR.
Still even lively response makes others see what some didnt.

Skismon Im not exactly sure wheter you would class this as a job. Or who should be paying who. Unless you include danger money, of a six year old teaching you to ski switch:)

I made a posting on www.native$.co.uk

I think they decided they deserve I guess around £150 from me to offer free acommodation.
So there removed my post from their forum$
Err discuss.

I guess they have shown their true colours, which is really just some advertising mouthpiece, for the ski industry corporations who want their staff to work for 6.5 days a week, on the improbable promise of getting some skiing in.

£150 thats is half a season ski pass!

At least this seems to be a genuinue forum.

Damn, a bit too soon for me. We're still in the process of shedding the graduate offspring & organising storage for wordly goods so not ready for this season, but should you want a couple for next year ( a carpenter & a teacher) let me know !!

I'd take issue witn the 'improbable' bit though - most TO staff ski every day bar changeover.

I'd do it no problem, if my personal circumstances were a little different. If you want paying what's stopping you getting a part time job on the 5 days a week you're not required.

Theirs no such thing as a free lunch, but as long as applicant has the way with all to support themselves for the season, this is as close as it get's. I'm pretty much in the same situation as nickH and if you did turn out to be a W****R, it's quite simple you'd turn up one Friday and your luxury chalet would be deserted and you would have to fend for yourself !!.

Theres nothing to stop you working during the week, although kind of defeats the whole Idea a bit, besides I need someone to be skiing all week to tell me where all the secret stashes are.

I must admit that if I was a free spirit, I'd certainly consider the job. After all, if they are going to invite someone into their home and give and take a bit (which I think they are) they deserve the chance to honestly say what they expect and offer in return. I think it could be a good opportunity for someone.

If you are serious PM me with your details and

Kel. Actually I did think about this as a serious proposition from somone, for a share of the proceeds of course.
The real facts are of course, that most paying customers want to have more than fourdays skiing and mostly on weekends.
My advice? Spend some time in a ski resort and see how busy it really is on the weekdays.

In any event , If you could find such a stream of customers only wanting to ski non holiday weekdays and willing to pay, we need to talk,
becuase you could never guess how many rich ex pat w**kers with chalets might actually take you up on it !
Who knows if successful, you might turn into a rich ex pat w**ker yourself.

nixmap, I too think it looks like a fantastic offer. I would imagine that a bit of over ordering for the wekend food could save some more money.

Every luck in filling the vacancy. FWIW I thought the advert precise and to the point. You don't come accross as a w****er, but despite that I am sure you will still fit in well here wink ,

Natives is a site that specialises in filling skiing job vacancies. I can understand where they are coming from as ons has to draw the line somewhere.

brian, household tasks for four whole people on two days of the week is hardly onerous is it? And if the kids are nightmare brats his housekeepers will just leave and go elsewhere, so it will pay him to make sure they're not too hideous.
