Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm thinking of booking on a Mountain Tracks Off-Piste Performance Course in Chamonix.

Anyone done this course or used Mountain Tracks before??

Thanks snowHead

BrightonSki, some of us have skied with Nick Parks. What do you want to know?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What was the instruction like?

How friendly / flexible were the guides/instructors?

Good / Bad experiences of the course?

Any experiences appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

We did the off piste performance in Ste Foy. On the whole it was a good course but there were a few negatives.
There were two levels running at the same and which group you went into was judged on one run on day one which meant those who hadn't got their ski legs back straight away (myself included) ended up in the wrong group and a bit frustrated after a few days. I think they may have sorted this out this year by not having such a wide range of levels on each course.
The other main gripe was the beacon training session which was a complete free for all. I've done this kind of thing a couple of times before and this one was very poor.

On the positive side the instruction was very good and the overall atmosphere of the group was great.

The bad bits can't have been that bad, considering doing another this coming season.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cheers Rich, that's really useful.

Was there a massive difference in course members skiing levels?

BrightonSki, We had a pretty large range of experience from beginner off piste with no previous or limited to the odd excursion from the piste up to one girl who was really just keeping her boyfriend company. She was skiing with a torn cruciate and was still better than everyone else. The problem was that there were only really three beginners and about twelve others which was why some of us ended up a mismatched group and got a bit frustrated.

They now run two distinct courses on different dates Off Piste Performance Foundation and Off Piste Performance Plus which should sort the problem.
