Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The word is that there is enough snow for a tour around the Carneddau. Tomorrow is going to be a windy but pretty clear day here, so Im going off for an explore with the skis at first light and plan to go up Pen yr Ole Wen and take things from there.

There is some very good snow near Llyn Ogwen at the moment with 2-4 feet of powder! Park up on the side of the road on the A5 and head up to Pen yr Helgi Du along the track.

hey,

thanks for the info and pics! I take it Pen yr Helgi Du is the summit in the middle of the top picture? Have you been up on skis or seen anybody up there?

I saw a few skiers and about 7 snowboarders there last Sunday. I should imagine the conditions will now be even better after last Tuesday's heavy snowfall. The summit is in the middle but is best if you head to the right and walk up to the ridge. Its completely safe and there is so much powder there. The other good spot i have been told is Black Ladders.

This best spot is to the right leading up to the ridge.

Hi All,
Variable snow conditions in Cwm Ffynon Lloer, so if your used to off piste skiing powder, wind slab and crust youll be fine, fresh tracks all round and as good as it gets..
Lots of people out ski touring on Thursday, myself included, all heading for the Carnedau.
Yesterday I skinned up Gallt yr Ogof from the back of Joe Browns in Capel Curig.
Theres not as much snow cover there but still skiable if your switched on..

The south side of Y Garn is also looking good with quite a few people up skiing up there.
Basically its great all over, just spot a white looking hill, walk up it and ski down it.

Moel Siabod had plenty of cover and would give a very long run down from the summit to the Pen y Gwryd.

Off to Scotland working in Cairngorm next week, shame its winter skills as the skiing up there is fantastic at the moment.
Stay safe and have fun.
