 Poster: A snowHead

My "husband to be" has put ski gloves on his santa list. He wants thin ones and know what he means as he already has a pair that need replacing. He bought these in the Alps somewhere a few years ago. His hands get very hot and hence his request. The ones he has are black and have like white squiggles all over.
Can anyone receommend a pair and make? I haev searched S and R and Ellis B but they all look like the traditional think and very warm ones.

Mouth, I use a pair of Berghaus ones - black fleece with Wind Stopper. Will cost around £30 and are fantastic. I also had a pair of Extremities ones, but the Berghaus ones are better IMO. Don't know if you'll find them in a ski section, more likely to be the hillwalking section. They have leather(ish) grips too, which I think is an important factor for sturdiness etc - the Extremities ones did not.

I, too, have the Wind Stoppers, and they're excellent. They're not, though, ski gloves, and I wouldn't count on them while skiing.

I use Black Diamond dry tool gloves, which are designed for ice climbing. These are not waterproof and will be cold if you are sticking your hands in the snow at all. If you're chap falls over a lot or snowboards on the side then get something else. They are, though very good indeed in warm conditions and are much more dexterous than anything else I tried for that level of insulation. Go small, they're stretchy.

I have some Cloudveil Ice Floe gloves - also climbing gloves but these are waterproof. Very good quality; dextrous as f### (tm)
Snow and Rock used to stock them - don't know whether they still do

I use my windstoppers for spring skiing. Saw some softshell gloves in S+R at the weekend that might be worht a look, scott i think.

Thanks Guys. Having looked at your recommendations I think the pipe gloves are the most similar to what he uses now. He is a boarder but last 2 seasons has been learning to ski so will now swtich between the two depending on conditions and who we are with. Have done a search and there is a couple of shops close to Henley that stock pipe gloves so off for a look! Great reponses and really helpful - thanks

search out the salomon softshell gloves, or like above the Dakine Cobras. Both lovely gloves, and not to bulky.
