Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have a Peak Performance jacket, I think it's called "Hipe" and is a couple of years old now. It's great apart from one thing - I made a foolish colour choice and the white bits esp the arms/cuffs get dirty very very quickly.

The DH had PP salopetters for many years and was trying to get hold of a PP jacket last year but gave up as he was struggling to get hold of the right one over here, so he switched to Dainese. He really rates the PP gear though - his sallies were really warm and waterproof for years and still looked good too, not scruffy at all even after a fair hammering over the years.

So thumbs up from him!

The thing is it isn't that expensive when you compare the quality to other brands, speaking to a few people they reckon that the PP stuff is worth what you pay for it, unlike Spyder where it's about the same quality as the PP stuff but you pay another 25% for the name.

I am doing 5 weeks this season (maybe more) and a full season next season, so spending £900 on kit isn't actually that expensive (in my opinion anyway)

Just had a look, hardly any choice and doesn't look anywhere near the quality of PP.

No idea..I got stuff from loads of different brands..just buy what looks good (this may be open to debate) rather then by a specific brand.

quality is pretty similar (I have owned both); extent of over-pricing also similar (unless you get it with 50% off in a sale Cool )

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

PP is kind of like the new SOS.... good kit but has been hijacked by a certain market. If you like it and it does what it says it does, then what is the problem.
You can't get any more popular and worn by everybody-kit than Arcteryx anyway... Laughing

Hmm, I'm wondering what this certain market is, and whether I'm a part of it? I just liked the look of the jacket and needed a new one...

Had a pair of their shell pants for years (trend setter me Cool ).

They've stood up to a fair bit of abuse and still look in good nick. Still waterproof too.

Now they're popular, I've gone for snowboarding pants which seem cheaper, for similar materials, and fit my fat back bottom better snowHead

You can get Peak trousers with rhinestones. What more could you want?

It has suddenly hiked in price though.

I've got PP stuff, I did my season in it last year, I've got some gortex shell jacket and a pair of Adrenaline pants, they are baggy enough and cool looking and come in some awesome colours. They are not just for middle aged couples, I'm 26 and single. They were super warm all year round and were very hard wearing and are good enough to take to Canada with me this winter although admittedly I will be looking for new stuff when I'm out there, as I'm doing lots of seasons now its worth having a lot of stuff.

They do a big baggy one piece suit which looks cool and can be pretty stylish I reckon, maybe I'm not cool anymore...?!?!

Anyway, I picked my stuff by checking out their website www.peakperformance.com and then ordered it / checked it out in real life at 47 Degrees which is a brand of ski shops around London. I think there website is www.47degrees.com

Cross is another cool scandi brand, they sponsor Jon Olson, how much cooler can you get?

My wife has a PP down filled jacket. It's high quality, very warm and hard wearing. Looks good too, which is always her first priority when choosing clothes.

Ellis Brigham stock Peak stuff.
Check out their 'tinternet site.
Most large ski resorts sell it too, so if you can wait till you go then you might just pick up a bargain.
