Gethin Jones Danger Hunters....on Virgin1
Saw the trailer for it last night and apparently this wednesday is "Deadly Snow"

Watched it last week - about water spouts (tornadoes in the sea) and it was pretty good - got it on series link now.
Whitelines said in their Friday Fix newsletter "the smooth-moving Gethin Jones will be taken up Mt Cook, NZ, in a heli to experience freeriding and its risks first hand with back-country silverbacks James Stentiford, Jonno Verity and Eric Themal. They certainly managed to discover the dangers, as they captured on film the slab avalanche that caught out Jonno Verity"

I watched it and thought it was good, for a few days on a board he was quite keen to give it a go, and some of the riding was looked fun, the best thing about it was that it was real, he was there trying to board and participate with the mountain rescue it was and not some collection of old footage
I am itching to get on my board again now too !!

I thought it was quite irresponsible without wanting to sound like I'm getting on my high horse but taking a 3 day boarder who was struggling to link turns up to heli-ski is a bit ridiculous really...
Yes it did highlight the risks - made it sound like they were 'avalance hunters' but still I wasn't that impressed. Full marks to gethin for bailing out and getting back in the heli when 'the boys' were trying to encourage him down some ridiculous slope..

bertie bassett, he was not really taken heli-skiing as such, it was a bit of hype but he was really just reporting on the boarders and happened to have a board under his arm, and whilst there had bit of a blast on a slope in pow that was not much more than a blue run-off. He did well riding the pow
they played it all out as if they were riding irrespective of avalanche risk, but it was not really the case and risks were assessed.
what it did do for me was highlight in a realistic manner and in real time the risks on the mountain.

Kruisler, nothing sorted for me either yet as i have been waiting for someone else to take the lead, seems it will have to be me AGAIN.
Pain is my uncle has booked his trip already and his dates are a real pain ! out is one of the guys b'days (he wants to spend with his GF) and back is mine !! If i'm in the mountian I want to be on the slope for my Bday not on a blooming coach /plane . Sensible priced Sunday to Sunday trips are nowhere to be found !

the "60 degree slope" seemed a bit of an exaggeration???
a question that came to mind was whether those guys would have come down that slope in those conditions were it not for the camera?? it did seem a little bit like they were determined to be involved in a slide

Thread shift but my withdrawal symptoms are made all the worse by me popping into 2Seasons to see if they have any early bargains. They had Burton Impact gloves going cheap, but not my size, and this:

'Tis bad times .. our normal 12 for Jan has dropped to 4 confirmed with an alledged possible plus his mate but he is ignoring my emails so i think he will be struck off too !
The dropouts have said they 'might' come on the march/april trip instead but am not holding my breath
Bummer dealing with that news with a hangover - i feel your pain though ... we are on an xmas party diet here and the only munchies we have are carrot sticks !!! I am in hell

Kruisler, haha a guy at work here had the same conversation with his wife about GLP ... I am the least likeliest home wrecker ever honest !
Thing is my OH goes on a music forum and has done for years, we also are very good friends with a couple he met on there, so I don't know why he struggles so much with SHs. And the 2 from Tignes did nothing to change his mind His fault for going to bed early when me & some of the others went to meet Swirly, Newts and SZY who were top people !
