Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fortress Investment Group fighting to keep Intrawest afloat

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Fortress Investment Group, a listed alternative investor with $40bn under management, is battling to keep Intrawest afloat. The ski resort company based in Canada has $1.68bn in debt due on October 23. Fortress controls Intrawest via a $1.37bn equity stake. Intrawest resorts include Whistler Blackcomb, Copper Mountain and Steamboat, to name but a few. With Intrawest's debt trading at less than 70 cents on the dollar, Fortress has approached potential and existing lenders to discuss refinancing. ...

The woes of Wall Street are also affecting other resorts in North America, with Moonlight Basin and Tamarack Resort both facing financial difficulties. Early sales and reservations figures in the US for some ski resorts suggest that the financial crisis could seriously affect the $6 billion ski industry. Some resorts are starting to offer deals to lure skiers and snowboarders.

As we can see here http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=1042260 people are concerned about how this affects Intrawest's European developments but actually all the Intrawest's properties in France were sold to Pierre et Vacances recently.

admin,

The sale to P&V in Europe was mooted as one way of financing the debt, but never actually went through.

My lease @ Arc1950 is still owned by Intrawest.

Well, until the next time anyway... wink

Intrawest are in the doodoo again. According to Bloomberg they are struggling for cash and may be taken over by their lenders.

Intrawest ULC, a Vancouver-based ski-resort operator owned by private-equity firm Fortress Investment Group LLC, may miss a debt payment due today on a $1.4 billion loan, according to two people with direct knowledge of the situation.
